Providing culturally responsive maternal health is at the heart of everything we do. We recognize that the journey through pregnancy and motherhood is filled with both joys and challenges, and we are committed to ensuring that every mother receives the emotional and physical support she deserves. We are dedicated to supporting women and their maternal health with the tools, resources, and community needed to navigate this transformative time with confidence and peace of mind.

Our Focus

Empowering Mothers, Strengthening Generations

Located in Houston, Texas, we offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of mothers. Our personalized maternal health counseling provides free or low-cost, one-on-one support to help women manage the emotional complexities of motherhood. Through our educational programs such as online courses on maternal health topics, we equip mothers with knowledge and skills that promote maternal wellness. Our community workshops and education events offer opportunities for connection and shared learning, while our provider training ensures that healthcare professionals deliver culturally sensitive and compassionate care. The Grace Foundation’s peer support networks foster a strong sense of community, reminding every mother that she is not alone in her journey.

According to the CDC

In 2021, the maternal mortality rate for non-Hispanic Black women was 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, 2.6 times the rate for non-Hispanic White women (26.6). Rates for Black women were significantly higher than rates for White and Hispanic women.

The increases from 2020 to 2021 for all race and Hispanic-origin groups were significant.

Rates increased with maternal age. Rates in 2021 were 20.4 deaths per 100,000 live births for women under age 25, 31.3 for those aged 25–39, and 138.5 for those aged 40 and over. The rate for women aged 40 and over was 6.8 times higher than the rate for women under age 25. Differences in the rates between age groups were statistically significant. The increases in the rates between 2020 and 2021 for each of these age groups were statistically significant.

Our Initiatives

Empowering Women's Health

Maternal mental health

Maternal Mental Health Services:

Provide accessible and culturally responsive maternal mental health care for expecting and new mothers, including therapy, support groups, and crisis intervention. Offer services tailored to address postpartum depression, anxiety, trauma, and other maternal mental health challenges.

Maternal health

Integrated Maternal Health Support:

Develop a comprehensive care model that integrates maternal mental health services with prenatal and postnatal medical care. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach that supports both the physical and emotional well-being of mothers.

Community-Based Education and Awareness:

Create educational programs to raise awareness about maternal health, the signs and symptoms of postpartum mood disorders, and available resources. Empower women to seek help early and provide tools for families and communities in Houston and beyond to support maternal health.

Peer Support Networks:

Establish peer support groups and mentorship programs where mothers can connect with others who have similar experiences. These groups will provide emotional support, reduce stigma, and foster a sense of community among participants.

Advocacy for Equitable Maternal Healthcare:

Advocate for policies and practices that prioritize maternal health, reduce disparities in care, and ensure all women have access to the support they need. Focus on addressing social determinants of health that contribute to maternal morbidity and maternal health challenges.

Training and Capacity Building for Providers:

Offer high-quality, subsidized training for healthcare providers, doulas, and community health workers on recognizing and addressing maternal health issues. Equip them with the skills to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care.
